The Crown Jewel Of Canadiens Collectibles

What you see here are nine Montreal Canadiens cards from 1911-12. In wads condition, judging by recent sales and auctions, the set might be significance a million!

Only the second ever set of hockey cards issued, the C55 1911-12 Imperial Tobacco series of 45 cards is a most sought after set.

The set contains many rookie cards and features 22 tomorrow's Hall Of Famers, including four from the Montreal Canadiens.

The C55 set is the most commonplace of the three cards sets produced by Imperial Tobacco, who also issued the 1910-11 C56 series and the 1912-13 C57 set.

The cards each feature mask drawing of photos taken from the day, and have brief player low-down on the reverse. The cards measure 1 1/2" by 2 1/2", and are an extremly rare find, remarkably in mint shape.

Players in the 1911-12 set were members of the NHA's Quebec Bulldogs, Ottawa Senators, Montreal Wanderers, Renfrew Millionaires and Canadiens. The series, considered the Godlike Grail of hockey card sets, is highly prized by collectors. Though it is the easiest of the three antiquated Imperial sets to find, it is the most difficult to complete due to it's size.

4 random packs of Upper Deck Hockey masterpieces

So I’ve unquestionable to go for a set of these, specifically because there’s no short prints in the hockey version. I’ve got a avocation box on order, but picked up a few packs at the local card boutique when they come up empty on the baseball version, SP authentic, or OPC hockey.

I watched the department store owner open the box herself, and I grabbed four packs. Here you go:

The Bossy and Mr. Hockey are doubles, and I’ve only opened 4 packs of this bunkum. The Vezina is one of those cards that makes up for the other blander cards this set has to offer.

Woo hoo, a jersey! For most, Nicholls would be a bit of a disaster, but as a Rangers fan, I’m forever grateful that he was part of the trade for Identify Messier. The picture on the card doesn’t look like a painting though, and there’s no painter referenced. Approachable of a disappointment if it’s true. The O’Ree card is another knockout. I think the bluish white of the ice makes for a better experience then the crowds and dugouts of the baseball cards.

I don’t learnt the Kurri card. He’s standing with his hands behind his back, but there’s a hockey immovable floating in front of him. My guess is it’s some sort of trophy. Anyway, the Hainsworth’s another guardian, and it’s a duplicate, too. Not having too much luck with those so far.

There’s four hits in a box of 18 packs and I got two of them. Mignonne decent, even if they aren’t the best of hits. The Cherry shows him more civilized in a sweatsuit and is a black and white photo, which is disappointing disposed his more recent flair for colorful suits. The pseudo canvas does courteous things for the sig itself, though.
