Fleer Ultra Hockey returns from Upper Deck
Will here, I a moment ago got sent this press-release highlighting the return of Fleer Ultra Hockey. UD claims that it's now "affordable" at $2.99 per hustle off for 8 cards. Pretty much the same stuff from the folks in Las Vegas, tons of parallels that no one unusually cares about, some nice sigs, more jerseys than you can shake a prick at, and then a new 1:864 insert set called "EX Jambalaya" which looks like, well, a gallimaufry full of vegetables you wouldn't eat without being drunk.

The Crown Jewel Of Canadiens Collectibles
What you see here are nine Montreal Canadiens cards from 1911-12. In bundle condition, judging by recent sales and auctions, the set might be benefit a million!
Only the second ever set of hockey cards issued, the C55 1911-12 Imperial Tobacco series of 45 cards is a most sought after set.
The set contains many rookie cards and features 22 unborn Hall Of Famers, including four from the Montreal Canadiens.
The C55 set is the most hackneyed of the three cards sets produced by Imperial Tobacco, who also issued the 1910-11 C56 series and the 1912-13 C57 set.
The cards each hype colour drawing of photos taken from the day, and have brief punter information on the reverse. The cards measure 1 1/2" by 2 1/2", and are an extremly rare find, signally in mint shape.
Players in the 1911-12 set were members of the NHA's Quebec Bulldogs, Ottawa Senators, Montreal Wanderers, Renfrew Millionaires and Canadiens. The series, considered the Saintlike Grail of hockey card sets, is highly prized by collectors. Though it is the easiest of the three antediluvian Imperial sets to find, it is the most difficult to complete due to it's size.

The league Versus its fans
We all be informed by now that the revolution will not be televised, and us Washington Capitals fans unfit to attend in person will be forced to tune into tonight’s misrepresent vs. Nashville the old fashioned way: in front of the transistor radio, collector's hockey cards arranged in front of us, imagining the action. Thank you, Versus and the NHL!
The compact between the league and Versus provides for an exclusive “contest of the week” on selected dates. Tonight is one of those wonderful dates, and that practise deceit is Philadelphia vs. Atlanta. In the “exclusive” however period (the time of the game’s broadcast, i.e., 7pm to 9:30pm Eastern), no other prepared may be broadcast in the United States.
In most cases, no other game is scheduled unless it involves two Canadian teams. Not so tonight. And we have to withstand this once more this season, on December 2, vs. Florida.
Certainly Versus has grown in subscribership, and increased its hockey ratings and subscriber fees over the spirit of its contracts with the league. And I’m sure that hockey misrepresent advertisers are willing to pony up a few more bucks for airtime during a recreation that’s the only televised game in every town. Notable for them. And you’d have to think that its marketing department was relieved to have heard the talk that Ovechkin isn’t playing tonight.
As the president of Versus, Gavin Harvey, said upon declaration of the contract extension with the NHL through ‘11 back in January, “It was a trick-changer for us . . . Without the NHL, we’d be in a more difficult pickle.” No incredulity.
Harvey also added, at the time, “If you’re into hockey, you’ll stay for Set Extreme Cagefighting, and maybe even for hunting and fishing.” Well, you will, won’t you?
